Our Work and Recent Activity

For over ten years, we have been designing and delivering courses that support colleagues to engage confidently with healthcare infrastructure design. Our work spans specialty-specific programmes, international workshops, and a Social Enterprise in Residence at Lancaster University.

In recent years, we have grown our team, broadening our expertise and strengthening our collaborative approach. We actively work across disciplines and organisations, with a focus on breaking down silos in healthcare.

We are most proud of the impact of this work — particularly hearing how participants go on to apply their learning within their own organisations, driving meaningful change in the environments where care is delivered.

NODA, Norway

NODA, Norway

May 2026

We were invited to contribute to the NODA conference in Northern Norway, where Aly was asked to speak. We were commissioned to design and facilitate a multidisciplinary workshop, culminating in participants writing “love letters” to the Northern Norway Health Board

Building Blocks for Critical Care

Building Blocks for Critical Care

April 2026

We delivered a two-day, specialty-specific course on intensive care design for around 70 participants — the first of its kind, supported by the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM), exploring design process, the New Hospitals Programme, and the role of environment, including access to nature.

Social Enterprise in Residence

Social Enterprise in Residence

Summer 2025

We were awarded a Social Enterprise in Residence at Lancaster University, working with Ben Dalton across French Studies, Philosophy and Social Sciences. During our time there, we contributed to teaching, engaged with a wide range of people, and visited services including the Fleetwood Hub and local mental health units. The residency continues through ongoing collaboration and research.

Bespoke Courses

Bespoke Courses

December 2023- date

We have delivered a range of bespoke one- and two-day courses for organisations at different stages, from individual projects such as maternity units to whole-hospital redevelopment programmes. We work closely with local engineering and architecture partners, often incorporating visits to exemplar buildings, including the Proton Beam Unit at The Christie in Manchester and the Maggie’s Centre in Leeds.

Co-producing guidance

Co-producing guidance

May 2026

We really value working closely with others and learning through collaboration. Recently, members of our team contributed to guidance on intensive care provision alongside colleagues including Kate and Ganesh, who were also a hugely valued part of our recent critical care course. Their insight and energy made working together a real highlight, and this kind of partnership is central to how we develop guidance and improve healthcare environments.

Critical Care Garden, King's College Hospital

Critical Care Garden, King's College Hospital

May 2026

This critical care garden has been over ten years in the making — the first rooftop garden of its kind. Designed by Professor Nigel Dunnett, who sadly died in April, it is a calm and restorative space for patients and staff. Driven forward by Tom with real tenacity despite multiple barriers, it represents the level of ambition and excellence we believe should be expected in healthcare design.

Children's Operating Theatres, Glasgow

Children's Operating Theatres, Glasgow

2024

We are delighted that Aly is part of our team. Her work transforming children’s operating theatres in Glasgow shows what can be achieved through co‑production, using the voices and stories of patients and families to shape care environments. With extraordinary energy and commitment, she continues to build on this work, setting a powerful example of how design can transform healthcare experience.
