Improving healthcare buildings for patients, staff, communities and taxpayers.

“Hugely informative. In particular, I feel more aware of the governance life cycle of a scheme and what to expect from this”

“All sessions were very good and varied. Only wish I had done this course earlier”

About us

We are a multidisciplinary group of architects, academics and clinicians. Since 2017 we have been running courses to empower clinicians in healthcare building projects.

At MADE our ambition is to improve healthcare buildings for patients, staff, communities and taxpayers. We believe that thoughtful hospital design can improve patient experience and health outcomes. With burnout a problem in the NHS workforce, considered design can support psychological safety, recruitment and retention. We aim to effect change through education, embedding best practice methodology, research and continuous evaluation.

“This has been an excellent course. I really enjoyed all the sessions and ability to ask questions - thank you!”

“As a trainee, this has been the most fascinating study course I have had the opportunity to attend. I would love to have a session where we could encourage clinician involvement at grassroots level.”

“Brilliant, thanks! It would be great to have more courses like this.”

Education

Our underpinning belief is that people who use spaces understand them. What works. What doesn’t.

Our courses train front line staff and enable them to get their voices heard in construction projects. Building Blocks for Clinicians has run bi-annually since 2017 – the first course of its kind.

In addition, we run bespoke project-specific courses on request.

Our faculty are leading experts in their fields and united in a passion for improving healthcare buildings through education.
